Private Housing
When you want to find private housing, you should make use of a real estate agent or a housing informational magazine. The conditions of each owner will vary, as will the systems used by Real Estate Agencies, or they may be the same in one area, but vary between cities and prefectures. The best thing to do to find a safe and reliable place is to ask someone who lives in the area or someone you can trust to help and advise you.
Letting rent fall into arrears, disturbing neighbours and owning pets, etc. should be discussed when the contract is made and signed. Failure to follow the conditions of the cotract can make the contract invalid and require the tenant to leave the rented property. You may be confused some major differences when renting an apartment in Japan, but please spare a thought for the owner of the apartment and future tenants by treating the place with care.
Specific high-quality apartments are built by private sector companies when authorized by the prefectural governor. The objective of the program is to supply rental units of superior quality to people with mid-level income, and is based on a law enacted to meet that objective (No. 52, 1993). These are rental dwelling units for which the national government, prefecture, or municipality is providing rental subsidies. For details, inquire at the following.
